On 9 June 2011, H.E. Prasas Prasasvinitchai, Ambassador of Thailand to the Philippines paid a courtesy call on H.E. Adrian S. Cristobal Jr., Undersecretary for International Trade, Department of Trade and Industry at the latter’s office.
The two sides noted an impressive increase of the total trade between Thailand and the Philippines which had consistently increased by 20 percent over the past 8 years and reached 7 billion USD in 2010. They also discussed and expressed a high hope to organize the inaugural Joint Trade Committee Meeting within this year in order to provide a floor to discuss how to enhance trade cooperation between the two countries.
They also shared the same view that the elimination of trade barriers, both tariff and non tariff, is essential in order to achieve “One ASEAN Community in 2015”.
