On 13 May 2011, the Tourism Authority of Thailand organized “Thailand Travel Fair 2011” at the Block, North Edsa. The event was aimed at promoting Thai tourism market nationwide in the Philippines and building stronger networks among stakeholders in the tourism industry. Presided over the opening ceremony was H.E. Prasas Prasasvinitchai, Ambassador of Thailand to the Philippines, accompanied by Team Thailand in the Philippines, representative from SM and friends of Thailand.
At the opening ceremony, Ambassador Prasasvinitchai noted a remarkable increase of 16 % in number of Philippine visitors to Thailand in 2010 which makes Thailand a top tourist destination for the Philippine people.
Apart from a number of travel agencies presented their packages promotion and air fare deals, Thai cultural performances from Chaing Mai, demonstrations of Thai desserts making and umbrella painting as well as a sample of Thai massage were also featured during the event.
