
On 5 May 2011, H.E. Prasas Prasasvinitchai, Ambassador of Thailand to the Philippines, welcomed and hosted a tea party at his residence for a group of Thai musicians of the Sunrise String Orchestra led by Col. Choochart Pitaksakorn, Thai National Artist in Performing Arts (International Music).

On this occasion, the Sunrise String Orchestra, conducted by Mr. Poonchok Kularbwong, performed three numbers namely, “Lao Duang Duan (ลาวดวงเดือน), Rom Klao (ร่มเกล้า) and Wihok Hern Lom (วิหคเหินลม) as a preview for the Ambassador and Sr. Mary Placid Abejo, Dean of Music of the St. Scholastica’s College.

The Sunrise String Orchestra visited the Philippines during 5-10 May 2011 to rehearse with young artists of St. Scholastica’s College, Manila. The Sunrise String Orchestra and the musicians of St. Scholastica’s College jointly performed the open-air concert at the Luneta Park in Manila on 8 May 2011.
The Royal Thai Embassy supports series of activities such as musical performance, traditional dance, food festival,sport and tourism to enhance cultural cooperation and people-to people contact between the Thai and Philippine community.
