On 12 August 2010 the Royal Thai Embassy in Manila led by the Ambassador of Thailand to the Philippines, H.E. Kulkumut Singhara Na Ayudhaya hosted an event celebrating the 78th birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit at the residence. The event was attended by the Thai Community, members of Team Thailand in the Philippines and dignitaries from the Philippine community who are friends of Thailand.
The highlights of the event include the following activities:
- Free medical checkup for the Thai community and
- Free H1N1 Vaccination for the Thai Community sponsored by United Pulp and Paper Inc. of SCG
- Exhibition of H.M. Queen Sirikit?s achievement and skills
- The donation to H.M. the Queen?s Royal projects specifically for the Mother of Thai Foundation, one of many projects of Her Majesty the Queen focusing on solving the drug problem in Thailand
- Lastly, signing of the wishing book for Her Majesty the Queen
All activities from cultural to public health services were devoted to honor Her Majesty the Queen on her birthday anniversary.
To honor H.M. the Queen, H.E. Kulkumut Singhara Na Ayudhaya gave the welcoming remarks emphasizing the significant role that Her Majesty the Queen has played in supporting the works of H.M. the King of Thailand which Her Majesty the Queen has done so through adding to the projects that was initiated by His Majesty the King. Hence it is often said that ?her purpose and life?s work has always been to assist the King in fulfilling the Monarchy?s duty to the Thai people.?
Also giving a few remarks and citation was the former Ambassador of the Philippines to Thailand, Ambassador Josue Villa representing the Philippine community followed by a speech from a representative from the Thai community in the Philippines. It was highlighted during both speeches of the love and great respect that the Thai people have of their Queen and as such celebrating her birthday anniversary by declaring this day as National mother?s day.
As an eminent model of Thailand the Queen has launched numerous development programs that benefit the people particularly the women, children and poor residents of Thailand as well as help develop environment preservation. The Queen has promoted the creation of social welfare organizations, shelter for the homeless and orphaned, supplementary meals for children at school and funding of medical treatment for those in need of help. She is also known for establishing The Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupation and Related Techniques ? ?SUPPORT Foundation? which focuses on promoting the time-hounoured crafts, techniques and skills of each village.
Moreover, Her Majesty the Queen?s devotion to Thailand has been acknowledged by the international community proven by the numerous awards that she has received over the years. Honorable awards such as the 1985 Asia Society?s Humanitarian Award, the 2004 Aid to Artisans Award for the Preservation of Crafts and the 1979 Ceres Gold Medal of U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization. Her service and loving kindness has resonated to all, having an important role in the well being of the nation.
