On 25 June 2010, H.E. Kulkumut Singhara Na Ayudhaya, Ambassador of Thailand to the Philippines, delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the 19th Visayas Area Business Conference at City Sport Club, Cebu. Under the conference?s theme of Public-private Partnership towards Sustainable Development, Ambassador Singhara shared Thailand?s experience and best practices in Public- Private Partnership projects as well as the role of Thai private sector in the country?s economic and political development. Particularly, how the Royal Thai Government attaches great importance to the role of the private sector in tackling the current economic and political challenges.
Apart from the Royal Thai Government?s policies towards economy and tourism, Ambassador Kulkumut also stressed the efforts of the Government?s policy towards political reconciliation so as to build confidence ? measure among stakeholders. The attendance of Thai Ambassador has not only brought about more confidence in Thai economy and political situation among Philippine society, but also built the networking between the Thai community and Philippine stakeholders.
The 19th Visayas Area Business Conference was the first of a series of business conferences organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry this year. Among the chamber-delegates are those from Bacolod, Iloilo, Bohol, Samar, Dumaguete, Siquijor, Mandaue, Negros Oriental, Guimaras?Antiquie, Aklan, Capiz, Boracay, Leyte, Eatern Samar, Consolacion and Cebu. During the Conference, officials of local business chambers in the Visayas have outlined their proposed resolutions to address the power shortage in the region.
