On 7 March 2011, the Royal Thai Embassy organized an orientation programme on Thailand, which covers from the Thai history, politics, economy, culture, tourism, to Thai-Philippine bilateral relations, for the students of Thai Language Classes from the University of the Philippines, Diliman.
Apart from the introduction of Thailand, the highlight of the orientation also included the presentation of the importance of the Royal Family to the Thai people, especially the contributions by His Majesty the King in promoting sufficiency economy and sustainable development practices throughout the country.
Following the briefing, the students had the opportunity to visit the Embassy’s consular service, the Information Center and the library, where information for visa requirements and materials of Thailand, Thai Monarchy, Thai-Philippine relations and its travel destinations such as Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Phuket and the city of Bangkok are available for learning and studying.
The Embassy hopes that the orientation programme will contribute not only to the mutual understanding and friendship of Thais and Filipinos through people to people contact but also to the promotion of Thainess, particularly “Thailand: the Kitchen of the World” and Thai tourism campaign, “Amazing Thailand” in the Philippine society.
