The Ministry of Information Technology and Communications of the Kingdom of Thailand in cooperation with the Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA) will organize ?Film Expo Asia 2010?, a short film making competition with the theme of ?Living Faith of the Beloved King?. ?
The ?Film Expo Asia 2010? project determines to develop film-making talents in film industry and act as mediator to assist with public education institutes, movie production management and film making skill enhancement. It is considered the first international-level competition open to all film-making talents from Asian countries to film and showcase their short films in Thailand.? Program Background :
Software Industry Promotion Agency (Public Organization) or SIPA plays a major role in promoting Thai Software industry to be competitive in Global market to better increase economic value and generate income in the Kingdom of Thailand.
Film production is one of the fast growing industries in Thailand.? Based on creative economy philosophy, film making effectively reflects social and cultural values as well as public awareness.? In this light, SIPA has concluded that it is time for Thailand to support film production in the most effective ways in order to promote economy and good understanding among Thailand and other foreign countries.? By doing this SIPA has also demonstrate the implementation of the ?Strong Thailand? government policy.
In this connection, SIPA has started the short film making competition project to promote, support and bring Thai film industry into international stage by giving the opportunity to students in Thailand and Asian region countries to participate in the project.? It is part of the ?Digital Media Asia? project under ?Film Expo Asia 2010? activity.
The process of film making usually has refined and subtle details of knowledge and arts.? Thus, Film Expo Asia 2010 Project has indicated the direction and theme about the Thai people and their love towards the King, namely ?Living Faith of the Beloved King?, for participants to express the uniqueness of Thailand through their movie production.
The Film Expo Asia 2010 Project determines to develop film-making talents in film industry and act as mediator to assist with public education institutes, movie production management and film making skill enhancement.? Besides, our objectives are to maintain the continuity of the film industry, commercially, from the beginning to the end, to generate income in the country, as well as to promote images of Thailand to be known as the land of prosperity, cultural heritage as well as travel destination.
Objectives :
- To develop a film production network throughout Asia.
- To promote Thailand and film industry in Thailand.
- To elevate film production standards to international level.
Target Group :
College and University students of any educational fields who have basic knowledge or interest in film making.
Number of Teams Participating :
There will be 99 teams producing 99 short movies; then they will be shortlisted to 30 teams.? Only 9 remaining teams are to be selected for awards.
Length of Film :
5-7 minutes
Prize :
1 Best Picture with the Grand Prize of US$ 100,000.00

- Have basic skills of short-film making or have interest in making short film.
- Able to create strings of thoughts about Thailand and determine to present them in the film.
